About Joan Shulman

As Co-Founder and President of A Hire Calling, LLC, Joan's hallmark is to deliver customized, personal and cost-effective client service.

In her work with corporate clients, Joan identifies the unique culture of each organization and the functional skill sets required by Hiring Managers---presenting them with candidates who will thrive in and contribute to their specific work environment. She specializes in reducing the cost and stress of the selection process and improving employee retention.

Joan's career coaching clients benefit from her personal attention and accessibility. Her background as a former teacher and college counselor, coupled with her experience in both the for-profit and non-profit work environments, provides job seekers with a supportive and effective methodology for finding the right opportunities.

Before founding A Hire Calling, LLC, Joan was a teacher in the Newton, Massachusetts Public School System; a Cooperative Education Counselor at Northeastern University, where she taught a course in Self Assessment and Career Exploration; the Director of the Women's Re-Entry Career Program; and the founder of the Placement Network, a placement agency for support staff. Throughout her career, Joan has maintained a private practice in career coaching and resume writing for clients in career transition.
